We’ll be seeking singers for this unique opportunity — and it’s not too early to start planning! The tour dates are June 3–7, with the performance on June 6.
During our tour in London, Terrie was invited by the then-founder of Mid-America Productions, Peter Tiboris, to conduct a massed chorus of 150 women, with orchestra.
Widely regarded as the world’s most famous concert venue, Carnegie Hall also has become synonymous with excellence over the decades, with the greatest talents in their fields known for performances there. Legends such as Gustav Mahler, Frank Sinatra, Bruce Springsteen, Duke Ellington, Leonard Berstein, and Judy Garland have lit up its main stage. Many world premieres were performed there and the Arizona Women’s Chorus will be among those.
Terrie brought the Foothills Women’s Chorus (us about 16 years ago!) and the UA Faculty Staff choir to Carnegie in 2006. Both choirs were conducted by other people (the Faculty Staff choir sang under John Rutter). This time, our very own Artistic Director, Terrie, gets to conduct a large group of combined women’s choruses. She has commissioned a local composer whose orchestrated work will be premiered at this incredible event.
Join us for a tour to be remembered, and a year of growth, honor, fame — and just for the sake of saying you sang on the stage of the venerated Carnegie Hall! We will be premiering an orchestrated work on the “cycles of life” with the whimsy of Sarah Boynton, and the wisdom of Eleanor Roosevelt. This piece will prove to be very moving and fun.
