Dear Friend of the Arizona Women’s Chorus,
We are so grateful for your support these past years. Thanks to you, we have been able to reach more people, recruit more singers, and commission new pieces for women’s voices. Our reputation is growing, and we are bringing the joy of song to many more people.
Why sing in or support a choir? One of the great things about a choir is that it is a found family. In addition to the singers, being part of a choir makes members of our families happy. Every single person on stage lights up and there’s a bond between them all. Women from all walks of life come together to sing and make something beautiful that we give to you, the audience. The joy that radiates from the singers on stage can be really moving.
This year our conductor, Terrie Ashbaugh, is an invited guest conductor in Carnegie Hall. Many of our members will be going with her to perform. We are so excited to be part of this and proud of Terrie for reaching this level of excellence in her career. In addition, we are bringing the music of local composer / performer / entertainer / conductor Khris Dodge to that venerable stage with us by commissioning him to compose a 20-minute work of women’s voices with orchestra.
We are also celebrating 40 years of performing for the Tucson community. You can help us celebrate our 40 years with a donation of at least $40. Or you can contribute toward the $10,000 commission. Your donation will be acknowledged in a separate listing of commission donors.
To support us, please mail a check to PO Box 68019, Oro Valley, AZ 85737 or donate online. You will be thanked on our website and in our winter program if received prior to November 20. Otherwise, we will note it in the spring program.
We hope to see you at our winter concerts Dec 13, 3 pm, Catalina Foothills High School, and Dec 21, 3 pm, at St. Mark Catholic Church.
